I've been looking at the plugins screenshots (maybe the same would apply for skins) and I find some inconsistencies that I don't like and I suggest we redo all the screenshots... :
- screenshots should be taken from windows and mac os x, not linux (unless the plugin works for linux only), this will compensate for the ugly look Tk has in linux...
- screenshots should all be taken with the SAME skin == default skin (of course, not for the skins screenshots :P)
- All amsn's should be configured for the same language == english, when doing the screenshots
- try to normalize this with having the same user do all the screenshots... we could create a 'email@example.com' email adress, add some amsn devels to the list and make the password public (or public to devels only) so everyone can use it to make their sceenshots instead of asking the person who volunteers now to do them...
- try to have a plein background (no spiderman background for example) to avoid having a flashy background that makes you forget about what you should be looking at in the screenshot (so no nude women either :P)
- IMPORTANT: remove all email adresses!!!! I saw on almost all screenshots, email adresses like "prvious conversations from ..." for remind, or your email adress in the configuration of pop3 plugin, etc...
- little things to make it easier for the user, small example, emote plugin, you see Mark talking with Jerome about different things using emotes, but nowhere the user understand he needs to write /me... I would suggest only one message, or maybe two using emotes (ONLY, no mixing) and have in the input text area the '/me wants to eat' or whatever message written (the last message in the output) so people understand 'this message I typed generated this message'... this is an example and think the same way for all other plugins... other example, msnstatusweb plugin has the 'first account' disabled and the 'second account' enabled.. make it more professional with the first one enabled only...
- other things like each screenshot has a different set of plugins enabled in its list.. make it consistent by either all of them loaded, or none of them loaded besides the plugin you want to test.. or the default ones loaded (Nudge, drawink, camshooter) + the current plugin we're screenshot-ing...
- avoid cluttering your desktop with useless windows / icons
- crop your screenshots to the size needed, unless there is a reason to not crop
- have the default display picture and a neutral nickname like "AMSN Screenshots"
- any other ideas to make it look more professional...
